NOPD Investigating Traffic Fatality in Third District
The NOPD is investigating a fatal hit-and-run vehicle crash that occurred today (January 16, 2025) at the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and Rapides Drive.
At about 6:20 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a subject down at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered and unresponsive adult female lying in the interior southbound lane on Elysian Fields Avenue having sustained obvious signs of trauma The victim was declared on scene to be deceased.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
