Dorchester Officers Arrest Package Theft Suspect

At about 1:35 PM, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Najib Dagher, 37, of Sharon, on larceny charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Geneva Avenue to combat numerous package thefts. Officers observed a male individual walking down Geneva Avenue towards Dakota Street with multiple packages in his hands. Officers did not observe this individual to be wearing a postal style uniform.

Officers observed the individual walk up the front steps of 421 Geneva Avenue and drop the packages on the porch before leaving the area. Officers exited their cruiser to further examine the packages, and immediately noticed that none of the packages belonged to that address.

While officers were inventorying the packages, the individual returned to the area. Officers quickly advised the suspect to stop, which he refused and attempted to walk away. Officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs and recovered a plastic bag of Fentanyl from his right pant pocket.

Dagher was placed under arrest and charged with Larceny from a Building, and Possession of Class A. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
