October 17, 2025, Peoria, IL - Today, Israel Ruiz, 41, was charged with Aggravated Stalking and Residential Burglary for incidents involving his ex-girlfriend. During Ruiz's detention hearing, the state's Petition to Detain was granted, meaning he will remain in custody until his trial.
On October 4, 2025, around 6:40 p.m., officers responded to a home on the 1100 block of NE Glen Oak Avenue after the victim discovered a hidden video camera inside her home. She reported ongoing issues with Ruiz and had recently obtained an order of protection against him. She described previous incidents in which Ruiz had made threats toward her and her children, deflated her car tires, and ripped a camera off her house.
Ruiz was arrested on October 15, 2025. During an interview with police, he admitted to breaking into the victim's home three times, placing two hidden cameras inside, and putting a GPS tracker in her vehicle.
