Town of Ulster - Alcazar ESS, LLC

Positive Declaration

Ulster County - The Town of Ulster Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Alcazar ESS, LLC may have a significant adverse impact on the environment, and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) must be prepared. The action involves Alcazar ESS, LLC (Applicant) who proposes to construct, own, and operate the Alcazar Energy Storage Project (Project) at 430 Hurley Avenue in the Town of Ulster, Ulster County, New York. The Project will consist of a lithium-ion battery energy storage system (BESS) facility (Facility), to be located on approximately 40 acres of privately-owned land in the Town of Ulster, New York (Project Site), capable of storing and delivering approximately 250 megawatts (MW) of electric energy and associated ancillary services into the New York electric grid. This chapter provides a detailed description of the Project location and setting, background, purpose, and objectives, as well as construction activities, scheduling, and any required approvals. The project is located at 1 Town Hall Drive in the Town of Lake Karine, New York.
