Alexis Yociss, a graduate student in nutrition and dietetics at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, has won the title of Outstanding Student of the Year for the Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program from the Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Yociss will be recognized at the awards ceremony during the Illinois Academy Nutrition and Dietetics Spring Assembly this March in Naperville.
Jen Zuercher, PhD, associate professor and Nutrition and Dietetics Graduate Program Director, SIUE Department of Exercise, Sport and Nutrition Sciences, nominated Yociss who then formally applied.
"It is such an honor to receive this award, as I have worked extremely hard the last six years at SIUE," said Yociss ('24 ), who received her bachelor's at SIUE as a dual major in nutrition and exercise science.
SIUE's coordinated program in nutrition and dietetics combines both coursework and rotation hours in one program. Yociss competed against student applicants in coordinated programs statewide.
