Texas Lutheran University is featured in a promotional video recently produced by the Science Mill, a highly interactive museum providing innovative STEM programs to inspire students' curiosity and give them the confidence, tools, and support they need to reach their full potential as a skilled member in the 21st-century STEM workforce.
The Science Mill is a year-round family destination offering a fun, interactive learning environment for visitors of all ages. Through cutting-edge technology-based exhibits and programs, the Science Mill expands students' understanding and appreciation of science in their everyday lives.
For the last eight years, the Science Mill has run its STEM Career Immersion (SCI) Camps with over 5,600 students participating. It is a cornerstone summer initiative that reaches into rural communities to inspire the next generation of innovators. These high-tech, innovative camps target economically disadvantaged students from upper elementary to middle school. By offering these enriching experiences at no cost to families, the Science Mill ensures all students have the opportunity to engage deeply with STEM, regardless of their economic background.
For the past three years, TLU has played host to Seguin's SCI Camp, offering area students and teachers the chance to explore, take on challenges, ask questions, and learn about everything from chemistry and biology to robotics and engineering. This past summer, the Science Mill filmed some of the fun on campus at TLU and interviewed university President Dr. Debbie Cottrell and then-TLU Board of Regents Chair and Science Mill Board Member Bob Oliver, who was instrumental in bringing the Science Mill to Seguin.
TLU is proud of its part in hosting the Science Mill's summer programming. The impact such experiences can have on young minds is unmeasurable, as friends are made, curiosity is sparked, and the scientists of tomorrow are born.
