The Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) within the Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D) in the Israel Ministry of Defense, together with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA), successfully completed a test series of the David's Sling Weapon System, designed to intercept various threats including rockets, missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft and UAVs.
The test series, built on operational lessons learned from combat over the past two years, included a variety of scenarios aligned with current and future threats. The successful tests represent an additional technological and operational breakthrough in upgrading the system, which has already demonstrated high performance capabilities during the war with successful interceptions that saved lives and prevented substantial damage.
The David's Sling system serves as a central defensive layer within Israel's multi-layered aerial defense architecture, which also includes the Arrow, Iron Dome, and the recently deployed Iron Beam systems. The system's development is led by the IMOD through the IMDO within DDR&D, in cooperation with defense industries and the U.S.'s MDA.
