Joliet City Council Meeting Recap - Tuesday, September 15, 2026

The Joliet City Council met on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect official minutes of the meeting. Minutes from the Tuesday, September 15, 2026, meeting will be posted on the City's website once they have been approved by Council at the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting.

Members Present: Mayor Terry D'Arcy, Mayor Pro-Tem Councilwoman Sherri Reardon, Councilman Joe Clement, Councilman Larry E. Hug, Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, Councilman Juan Moreno, Councilman Pat Mudron, Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman

Members Absent: Councilman Cesar Cardenas

Actions Taken:

  • Approved Group Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Renewal for Active and Retiree Employees (459-26)
    • Council voted to renew employee and retiree health, dental, and vision benefits for 2027, with new health plan choices and a new Medicare plan for retirees age 65 and older.

Motion Approved: 8-0

  • Approved Property, Liability, and Workers' Compensation Insurance Renewal (460-26)
    • City Council voted to renew the City's insurance coverage through October 1, 2027.

Motion Approved: 8-0

  • Approved Ordinance Allowing Box Truck Parking at Will County Habitat for Humanity ReStore (463-26)
    • Council approved the use of four parking spaces for box trucks used for deliveries, donation pickups, and public moving rentals.

Motion Approved: 8-0

  • Approved Ordinance Allowing a Semi-Trailer Sales, Service and Repair Facility at 1720 Worker's Court (464-26)
    • Council voted to approve a special use permit for W&B Service Company to operate a trailer sales, service, and repair facility at 1720 Worker's Court, with signs to help keep trucks off Spencer Road.

Licenses & Permit Applications:

  • Approved permit for Savvy Sliders Restaurant drive-thru (16301 Boulevard Place, Unit 101) (462-26)

Other Council Actions:

  • Proclamation Recognizing Constitution Week
  • Proclamation for Nonviolent City
  • Appointment of Brian Fruits-Esparz to the Joliet Arts Commission
  • Appointment of Antoine Edwards to the Board of Fire and Police

Adjournment:

The regular Council meeting began at 6:30 p.m. on September 15, 2026, and adjourned at 7:51 p.m. on September 15, 2026. The next regular City Council meeting will take place on October 6, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
