Community Meetings This Week: Rail Grade Separation Project and More

Published on August 24, 2026

The City is seeking community input this week to help inform City Council decision-making this fall on advancing Rail Grade Separation Project at Churchill Avenue, Meadow Drive and Charleston Road and South Palo Alto Bicycle/Pedestrian Rail Crossing designs at El Dorado Avenue.

Rail Grade Separation Project

First up, join one of two community meetings on Palo Alto Rail Grade Separation Project. Learn about refined grade separation designs for City of Palo Alto Grade Separation Project at Churchill Avenue, Meadow Drive, and Charleston Road. The two-hour format includes a presentation, question-and-answer session, and an open-house portion with project displays and opportunities to comment. Both meeting dates cover the same content, giving the community multiple chances to attend. Each meeting will share 15% design findings and gather community feedback before the project is returned to the City of Palo Alto Rail Committee and City Council in September. Both meetings are in-person only and located at Mitchell Park Community Center, El Palo Alto Room.

South Palo Alto Bicycle/Pedestrian Rail Crossing: El Dorado Avenue Design Review

Then on Thursday evening, share feedback on possible bicycle and pedestrian rail crossing design alternatives at El Dorado Avenue, as well as additional improvements in the surrounding neighborhoods. Feedback received will help identify and refine preferred concept designs for a new grade-separated bike/ped rail crossing. This workshop is in-person only at Riconada Library, Embarcadero Room.
