On the second day, we heard from the various intercompany committees that operate throughout the Americas. These committees support a variety of cross-company initiatives in areas such as manufacturing improvement, human resource development and other HR initiatives, and social contribution activities. Their presentations showed me that our companies are collaborating across locales and business divisions to address common challenges and create value. It was very encouraging to see the steady progress being made toward fully leveraging the collective strength of our organization.
In the afternoon, we toured one of the production facilities of Keystone Powdered Metal Company, the host of this year's conference. KPMC is a manufacturing and sales company of sintered components. Tour participants were given an overview of the plant's production processes and continuous improvement activities. Witnessing the employees' sincere commitment to improving safety, quality, and productivity was a reminder to everyone of how the strength of our manufacturing operations is the source of the Sumitomo Electric Group's competitiveness.
