Privacy Incident Impacts 780 BlueCross Members

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) is notifying approximately 780 current members of an error that led to one plan member accidentally receiving virtual ID cards for other members covered by the same employer. No other BCBST members were impacted by this incident.

BCBST learned of the Oct. 28 incident on Oct. 29 and has notified impacted members by letter and offered resources to help them protect their personal information. Members impacted by this situation will have access to identity monitoring services provided by BCBST at no cost.

This incident involved information available on BCBST member IDs, including name, member ID number, address and group number. The incident did not involve sensitive data such as financial information, date of birth, or Social Security number.
