Detectives Investigating Whether 2-Year-Old Wounded Himself with a Gun Thursday Night

Youth Services detectives investigating Thursday night's gunshot injury to a two-year-old boy inside an apartment in Cumberland View housing on 26th Avenue North have been told by those present that they believe the child gained access to a pistol in the living room, fired it, and wounded himself.

The two-year-old is in stable condition and is expected to recover, as the bullet avoided vital organs.

A man who reportedly owned the gun quickly left the area after the child was wounded, presumably with the pistol, as it was not located by police.

This investigation remains active.
