Delayed: Putnam County Route M to close for repairs Sept. 28

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Putnam County Route M Medicine Creek Fork Bridge, west of Powersville, is now planned to close on Monday, Sept. 28. The Capital-Horner & Shifrin design-build team has delayed the Route M bridge closure by one week, but still plans to close the Putnam County Route 129 North Blackbird Creek Bridge, northeast of Unionville, on Monday, Sept. 21.

Each closure is expected to last two weeks. Motorists should seek an alternative route.

These bridges were replaced in 2025 as part of the Northwest Bridge Bundle. Design-build is a project delivery method in which one contracting team is selected to design and build the highway improvement under one contract. MoDOT provides the project goals, budget and schedule and the contractor team completes the work. This technique has been known to significantly save time and provide cost savings.

The full list of bridges to be replaced can be found on the Northwest Bridge Bundle web page.
