State Police arrest Gloversville man for Rape

On December 19, 2024, State Police of Fonda, with the assistance of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, arrested Heran Julia, 44, of Gloversville, NY, for Rape in the third degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On December 19, 2024, at about 6:15 p.m., Troopers responded to the area of State Route 5 in Mohawk, NY, for the reports of a hit-and-run crash into a guide rail. Troopers located the vehicle involved with obvious damage parked in a nearby pull-off area. Upon approaching the vehicle, Julia was observed engaging in sexual activity with a teenage juvenile under the age of 16 inside the vehicle.

Julia was arrested and transported to SP Fonda for processing. He was then arraigned at the Mohawk Town Court, where he was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash, $20,000 bond, or a $30,000 partially secured bond.
