CHICAGO, IL - On Thursday, June 18, Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) traveled to Chicago to attend the Obama Presidential Center Grand Opening.
"[It's] the concept that 'neighbor' is not geographic. It's moral. We have an obligation to care - whether it's in Chicago, whether it's in Washington, DC, whether it's in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, or wherever - we have an obligation to care for each other, whether we have health care or whether we can afford groceries…This is our generation's opportunity to serve, [and] I'm so grateful to have that opportunity to serve. And I was really very grateful to be among the people who were celebrating our country, celebrating President Obama and his family, and looking forward to tomorrow," said Senator Alsobrooks in an interview after the grand opening ceremony.
