HARRISBURG - State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Clint Owlett (R-68) today announced $2,098,776 in state funding has been awarded to several community improvement and economic development projects in Bradford and Tioga counties. The awards were considered at today's Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) meeting and approved through the Authority's Local Share Account (LSA) statewide program, Flood Mitigation Program (FMP) and Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP).
"The awards announced today will be incredibly impactful for our communities by funding important economic development, infrastructure, public safety and recreation projects," Yaw said. "Local governments often operate with tight budgets, and these investments will make a real difference. I'm thankful to Rep. Owlett for working with me to secure this funding."
"These grants represent key investments in our communities, from flood mitigation efforts and other safety improvements to purchasing necessary equipment to maintain our infrastructure," Owlett said. "I commend our local officials for their work in making these projects happen and appreciate the opportunity to work with Sen. Yaw to bring this funding back to our district."
The following projects were awarded funding through the LSA program:
Bradford County
Tioga County
Additionally, Tioga County was awarded $265,280 for Phase I of the Mansfield Flood Mitigation Project through the FMP. Further, $150,000 was awarded for Phase II of the County's Island Park Sports and Recreation Improvements Project in Blossburg Borough through the Authority's GTRP.

Local Share Account funds are generated by the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 71 of 2004), which provides for distributing gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest within Pennsylvania.
The GTRP and FMP are part of Act 13 of 2012, which established the Marcellus Legacy Fund and allocates funds to the CFA to plan, acquire, develop, rehabilitate, and repair greenways, recreational trails, open spaces, parks and beautification projects.
The legislators noted it is important to recognize this award is made possible through natural gas development in Pennsylvania, which continues to deliver real, tangible benefits to communities across the commonwealth.
