Western Washington University's Board of Trustees met on Dec. 11-12.
On Thursday, Dec. 11, the Board held a work session to continue discussion of the topics from its October retreat, including progress on the Presidential Enrollment Growth Initiative, planning for student housing, ensuring fiscal sustainability for athletics, and advancing a broader legislative strategy. The Board of Trustees also had a combined meeting with the Board for the Foundation for Western Washington University and Alumni. This joint meeting included a presentation from the Education Advisory Board on national trends in higher education.
On Friday, Dec. 12 the Board met for a regular business meeting. The meeting began with a formal welcome to Trustee David Frockt, who was recently appointed to the BOT by Gov. Ferguson. After discussion, the Board approved a revised charter for the Academic Affairs and Student Success Committee, the sale of a property to Whatcom County, and changes to the Services & Activities Fee allocation process. As a final action item, the Board enthusiastically voted to approve degrees earned at the end of Fall Quarter.
The next regular Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for Feb. 12-13, 2026, in Bellingham, WA.
