The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections will certify the results of the District 5 City Council race on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 2:30 p.m.
Immediately following certification, the swearing-in ceremony for Councilmember-elect Naya Young will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Tampa City Council Chambers (315 E. Kennedy Blvd., 3rd Floor).
Media outlets are invited to attend.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on CTTV (Channel 15 on Frontier Communications and Channel 640 on Charter Spectrum) and streamed on the City of Tampa YouTube Channel at @CityofTampaLIVE.
Background:
District 5 encompasses East Tampa, parts of Ybor City, Seminole Heights, and the downtown and Channel District areas. The seat was vacated in June, following the untimely passing of Councilwoman Gwendolyn Henderson, who was elected to serve District 5 in 2023.
