Leaf Collection

The City of Westerville's fall leaf collection program helps keep streets clear and protects local waterways. Use the schedule below to find your set-out date, identify your collection zone and track collection progress.

Other Ways to Dispose of Leaves

Don't want to wait for your scheduled collection? Bag leaves in approved yard waste bags or containers and place them at the curb for the City's regular Monday yard waste collection.

Leave the Leaves: Skip the Rake, Mulch Instead!

You don't have to rake every leaf. Mulching leaves with your mower returns nutrients and organic matter to your lawn, supporting healthy soil and potentially reducing the need for fertilizer. Mow regularly to break leaves into small pieces that can settle into the grass, and rake up excess leaves if they form a thick layer.

You can also leave some leaves around trees, shrubs, perennials and garden beds to provide habitat for overwintering pollinators and improve soil health.

Visit the National Wildlife Federation to learn more about the benefits of leaving the leaves.

A Weather Watch: Leaf Collection May Pause for Snow

Our leaf collection crews are also our winter Road Warriors, working to keep Westerville's roads clear and safe when snow arrives. Because the City uses the same trucks for both services, crews must shift gears when winter weather hits. If snow is in the forecast or begins to fall, leaf collection may pause while crews focus on snow and ice removal. Leaf collection will resume when conditions allow.
