TROPICAL CYCLONE OPONG
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila, is closely monitoring Tropical Cyclone Opong (Internationally known as Bualoi), which has brought heavy and intense rains, resulting in the displacement of hundreds of families.
As of today, the typhoon was hovering in the central Philippines and was moving westward at 35km per hour with maximum winds of 110 km per hour. The typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by 27 September 2025.
Malaysia extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the Government and people of the Philippines, especially the victims and families affected by the calamity. The Ministry is currently coordinating with the relevant agencies on the possible assistance that could be rendered to the Philippines.
Thus far, no Malaysians have been reported to be involved or affected by the typhoon. Malaysians in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by local authorities. Those who have not yet registered and updated their whereabouts and details are encouraged to do so immediately at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my.
