Interstate 635 will be closed overnights at Miller Road from Tuesday, Oct. 21, to the morning of Thursday, Oct. 23, as part of the $1.7 billion Texas Department of Transportaiton project to improve Garland's busiest freeway corridor.
All lanes of westbound I-635 from Miller to U.S. Highway 75 (Central Expressway) will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22. All lanes of eastbound I-635 will be closed between Forest Lane and Miller from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, to 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23.
Frontage roads will be used as detours. Traffic lights on the frontage roads will be turned off and cross streets, including Miller and Plano Roads, will be detoured at I-635 while the freeway is closed. Expect no more than one lane of the freeway to be open west of Plano Road between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. through the morning of Monday, Oct. 27.

The $1.7 billion LBJ East project to reconstruct and widen I-635 from U.S. Highway to Interstate 30 includes the I-635/I-30 interchange. The general-purpose lanes are being expanded and the existing tolled managed lanes are being rebuilt. When complete, there will be a total of 10 general purpose lanes and two tolled managed lanes. The project also includes the construction of continuous frontage roads and numerous intersection improvements.
