More than $63,000 raised to fuel student success and well-being
In a powerful show of alumni pride and institutional momentum, the Bellarmine University community came together on Giving Tuesday to raise $63,730 in support of student success - surpassing this year's $50,000 goal and far exceeding last year's total of $45,671 by 40%.
This year's December 2 Giving Tuesday donation tally included:
-
$34,810 for student emergency needs
-
$19,000 for student scholarships
-
$7,070 for the Bellarmine Fund, which provides current-use dollars to support student needs
-
$2,850 for academic and other initiatives
Every dollar raised will directly benefit Bellarmine students, ensuring they have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive in mind, body, and spirit. From emergency assistance and financial aid to core academic support, this generosity reflects the community's shared commitment to student success and to the university's mission.
This year's Giving Tuesday efforts were part of Bellarmine's $75 million comprehensive campaign, Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future, which supports the university's enduring commitment to:
-
Student Success through scholarships, wellness programs, and emergency aid
-
Catholic Identity and Mission grounded in the inclusive spirit of Thomas Merton
-
Workforce Impact with career-ready graduates who lead across sectors
-
Athletics Excellence that builds campus spirit and opportunity
As a university recently recognized by the Carnegie Foundation as an "Opportunity College - Higher Access, Higher Earnings," Bellarmine continues to lead in both accessibility and strong student outcomes. 99% of graduates are employed or pursuing further education within six months of commencement, and their earnings outpace graduates from any other Kentucky institution.
Bellarmine's 75th anniversary campaign, launched in October, invites alumni, families, and friends to invest in the next generation of leaders while securing the university's vibrant future. Gifts to the Bellarmine Fund and student-centered initiatives are vital to the university's mission and momentum.
"Giving Tuesday was another clear signal of the momentum behind Bellarmine's new fundraising campaign," said Scott Self, vice president for development and alumni relations. "The remarkable enthusiasm we're seeing from donors - whether they give to scholarships, emergency aid, endowed funds, or the Bellarmine Fund - shows how deeply our community believes in the power of our mission. Together, we're building a future rooted in excellence and opportunity for every Knight."
