Hamilton County: Construction Update

HAMILTON COUNTY Weekly Construction Update

The following traffic advisory includes restrictions on the state highway system in Hamilton County. All work will be contingent upon the weather. For construction information and statewide information regarding road conditions, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com.

INTERSTATE 74 CONSTRUCTION

Mill Creek Expressway - Phase 5B (I-75/I-74 Reconfiguation) - Phase 5B of the Mill Creek Expressway project includes reconfiguring the I-75 southbound connection to I-74 westbound and perform additional improvements to westbound I-74 with the addition of a thru lane on I-74 West between I-75 and the Montana Avenue interchange. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2025. Various lane and shoulder restrictions may be in effect on the mainline and at affected ramps within the project zone during evening and overnight hours, including the following:

Monday, December 22:

  • Closure of the ramp Colerain Avenue/Beekman Street (Exit 18) from I-75 North and I-74 West, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, December 23. Motorists may detour via I-74 West and the Montana Avenue interchange to I-74 East and the Beekman Street exit.


INTERSTATE 75 CONSTRUCTION

Mill Creek Expressway - Phase 8 (Railroad Bridge Reconstruction) - As part of the Mill Creek Expressway - Phase 8 project, construction includes replacement of three railroad bridges located over Prosser Avenue, I-75, and SR 562, as well as minor realignment of I-75 lanes to accommodate new railroad bridge pier location on I-75. Lane shifts are in effect in both directions, as well as a contraflow lane for southbound traffic. Additional lane and ramp restrictions will be in effect throughout the project. Construction is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2027.

Mill Creek Expressway - Phase 8B (Pump Station & CSO) - Phase 8B is the construction of a new Pump Station and Combined Sewer Overflow for the widening of I-75. Construction is being conducted off the roadway, so there should be little to no impact to traffic associated with this project. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2028.

Mill Creek Expressway - Phase 8C (Widening) - Phase 8C extends from Regina Graeter Way to the Galbraith Road/SR 126/RRCC interchange area and includes widening I-75 for additional through lanes and rehabilitating bridges. Traffic on I-75 North and South is being maintained in three lanes in each direction, but traffic has been shifted to the east, and a contraflow lane has been implemented on southbound I-75. Various lane and ramp restrictions will be in effect during the evening and overnight hours, including the following:

Sunday, December 21:

  • Single-lane closures on I-75 North and South beginning at 8 p.m., followed by double-lane closures at 11 p.m. All restrictions will be lifted by 6 a.m. Monday, December 22.


INTERSTATE 275 CONSTRUCTION

I-275/Combs Hehl Bridge Repairs - A project by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to conduct steel repairs on the Combs Hehl Bridge carrying I-275 over the Ohio River. Westbound traffic will be maintained in three, shifted lanes across the bridge with a reduced width through the work zone. In addition, traffic on I-275 West in Ohio will be shifted to the south and maintained in three lanes beginning at the Kellogg Avenue interchange. A reduced speed limit will also be in effect. I-275 Slide Repair & Pavement Reconstruction - Between the on-ramp from U.S. 52 and the Five Mile Road exit. Eastbound I-275 is reduced one, 11-foot lane for pavement restoration, and the on-ramp from U.S. 52 to I-275 East is closed. Motorists may detour by way of the Kellogg Avenue interchange. The restrictions will be in effect through Monday, December 22.

I-275 Cable Barrier Installation - Installation of cable barrier rail between Five Mile Road and the Hopper Hill Road overpass in Clermont County (south/west of the Beechmont Avenue interchange). Traffic will be maintained on I-275 with intermittent single-lane closures and ramp restrictions in effect.

I-275 Cable Barrier Installation - Installation of cable barrier and relocation of fiber optic lines, between Blue Rock Road and the U.S. 27 (Colerain Avenue) interchange. Traffic will be maintained on I-275 with intermittent single-lane closures and ramp restrictions in effect.

NEW IMPACTS

Glenwood Gardens Trail & Shared-Use Path - Construction of a shared use trail connecting the Winton Woods Park trail network to Carlsbad Road, Springfield Pike, and the West Fork Mill Creek Greenway at Glenwood Gardens Park. Site preparations are under way; however, there are no impacts to roadways or visitors to the park.

S.R. 126 Utility Locations - Between Ridge and Plainfield roads. Single-lane closures may be in effect weekdays, November 17-December 31, while contractors locate and map above and below-ground utilities. Crews will be working during daytime hours, from approximately 7 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following day, as weather permits.

U.S. 22 (Montgomery Road) Pedestrian Improvement - Between I-275 in Hamilton County and Landen Drive in Warren County. Installation of pedestals and relocation/upgrade of pedestrian crossing devices at various locations within the corridor. Construction also includes sidewalk and curb ramp improvements and conduit installation. Crews will start in the Landen area and work their way west along Montgomery Road. Traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in either direction during hours of operation, daily from approximately 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All work is scheduled be completed in June 2026.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

M.R. 526 (Blair Avenue)/I-71 Bridge Repair - At the Blair Avenue bridge over I-71. Vehicular traffic is being maintained in one lane in each direction; however, the bike lanes are closed. Intermittent shoulder and single-lane closures may be in effect on I-71 South. All work is scheduled to be completed in June 2026.

C.R. 91 (Poole Road) Sidewalk - Construction of sidewalk on Poole Road, between Cheviot Road and Colerain Avenue. There should be little to no impact to traffic throughout the project; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed.

C.R. 96 (Springdale Road) Sidewalk - Construction of sidewalk along Springdale Road, between Colerain Avenue and Loralinda Drive, and upgrades to pedestrian crossings. Traffic will be maintained through the work zone, with a single-lane closure on Springdale Road and closure of the right-turn lane on northbound Colerain Avenue.

C.R. 266 (Kemper Road) Signalization - A project to update the signals at locations on Kemper, Lebanon, Mosteller and Reading roads in the city of Sharonville. Various lane restrictions will be in effect when crews are at work, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic will be maintained as needed by flaggers. All work is scheduled to be completed in December 2025.

C.R. 614 (Northland Boulevard) Rehabilitation - In the city of Springdale, between S.R. 4 and Kemper Road. Construction includes replacing pavement, replacing the mast arm signal at Tri-County Parkway, installing sidewalks, drainage and access management improvements. Traffic/lane shifts are in place on Northland Boulevard. All other directions of traffic remain unchanged, and traffic will be maintained with barrels and/or flaggers. U.S. 22 (Gilbert Avenue) & I-71 Pedestrian Bridge Replacement - Construction of a new pedestrian facility connecting Mt. Adams and Cincinnati by replacing the pedestrian bridges over I-71/471 Gilbert Avenue with the construction of a single, shared-use path bridge over the interstate and Gilbert. Throughout most of the project, the structure over I-71/471 will remain open to pedestrians; the bridge over Gilbert Avenue has been removed. The project is scheduled to be completed in September 2026, and intermittent vehicular and pedestrian traffic restrictions will be in effect.

U.S. 50 (Columbia Parkway/Wooster Pike) Bridge Rehabilitation & Resurfacing - At locations between the Red Bank Road overpass and Settle Road in Fairfax and between the western corporation limit of Terrace Park and Drewry Farm Lane. Traffic is being maintained in a minimum of one lane in either direction, with ramp closures in effect as needed. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in December 2025.

U.S. 52 Slide/Embankment Repair - At two locations between the I-275/Kellogg Road interchange and Asbury Road. Traffic is being maintained through the work zone; however, the right lane of eastbound U.S. 52 is closed. All work is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2026.
