Rep. Ralph Norman Secures Four Amendments in House-Passed FY27 National Defense Authorization Act

WASHINGTON - Congressman Ralph Norman (R-SC) announced that all four of his amendments were included in the House-passed Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), advancing efforts to strengthen national security, improve transparency, and enhance accountability within the Department of Defense.

"Passing these amendments in the House is a major win, but the work isn't complete until they're included in the final FY27 NDAA and signed into law," said Congressman Norman. "At a time of growing threats to our nation, these commonsense reforms will strengthen our military, improve accountability, safeguard taxpayer dollars, and counter the Chinese Communist Party. America must continue to field the strongest, most capable fighting force in the world."

Congressman Norman's amendments included in the House-passed FY27 NDAA are:

• Amendment 31: Ensures FY27 NDAA pilot programs expire after two years unless Congress votes to extend them, encouraging federal oversight.
• Amendment 32: Requires Department of Defense-supported projects to disclose their taxpayer-funded cost, bringing greater transparency to federal spending.
• Amendment 216: Requires the Army to brief Congress on the effectiveness of insect repellent-treated combat uniforms to improve soldier protection.
• Amendment 217: Prohibits CCP-linked financial service providers from being used on Department of Defense devices, reducing cybersecurity risks.

Background

The House of Representatives passed the FY27 NDAA by a vote of 216-212. The annual NDAA authorizes funding, establishes policies, and provides oversight for the Department of Defense and the nation's military.
