REP LIEU STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF DAVID SCOTT

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement on the passing of Congressman David Scott (D-GA).

"Today, we mourn the loss of Congressman David Scott, who faithfully served the people of Georgia for more than 50 years. Congressman Scott was a tireless advocate for his constituents, especially the veterans in his community, and he worked relentlessly to reform the VA on their behalf. He was also a trailblazer as the first Black Chairman of the Agriculture Committee, where he advocated on behalf of America's farmers and our agriculture sector. A dedicated public servant throughout his career, he achieved meaningful policy victories in both the Georgia statehouse and Congress by seeking common ground to improve the lives of his constituents and the American people. I join his family, friends, and colleagues in mourning this tremendous loss."
