CARNEGIE, PA - Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Beaver County, Pennsylvania $200,000 to invest in mental health and substance abuse services across the county. The federal funding will help the county execute its REACH (Respond Educate Assist Connect and Help) Program.
"I'm proud to announce that Beaver County is receiving $200,000 in federal funding to boost their mental health and substance abuse services," said Congressman Deluzio. "These are challenges that impact so many Western Pennsylvanians and their families. It's critical to have the care folks need close to where they live-I'm glad to celebrate this funding coming home for more resources in Beaver County."
"Beaver County Behavioral Health is thankful for this Federal award from SAMHSA and is excited about the positive impact it will have on our County," said Lisa McCoy, Administrator of Beaver County Department of Human Services and Beaver County Behavioral Health. "Beaver County REACH (Respond, Educate, Assist, Connect & Help) will engage various groups in our community, including youth, families, veterans, first responders, individuals reentering the community after incarceration, older adults, and individuals employed in manufacturing/skilled trades, and deliver evidenced based trainings to increase mental health awareness and connections to needed treatment and supports."
HHS's Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), which is housed in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration program, awarded this funding. CMHS aims to improve the nation's mental health by increasing state and community access to mental health services, addressing serious mental illness, and promoting recovery outcomes for Americans with mental and behavioral health conditions. The Trump Administration's efforts to freeze funding and pause federal grants has created significant uncertainty for grantees, varying by agency and program. As of now, courts have paused many of these freezes. However, Congressman Deluzio's office will continue to monitor these developments and fight to make sure this congressionally-authorized funding keeps going to projects that make life better for Western Pennsylvanians. If you are the recipient of a federal grant and have been notified that this funding is no longer available to you or are experiencing other issues accessing your lawfully appropriated funds, please share your concerns with Congressman Deluzio's office at [email protected].
