Tarleton State once again got off to a quick start scoring first for the third-straight game in the series. got things going as she hit a sac fly to right scoring and moving to third to make it 1-0 Texans. then stepped to the plate with (bunt single) and Fox (single) on and wasted no time hitting the 0-1 pitch out to left putting the Purple and White up by four, 4-1.
In the top of the fourth, decided to hop on the homerun train hitting a first pitch nuke to center to make it 5-0 Tarleton State.
The bottom half of the fourth saw the Trailblazers finally break through as Gabi Giroux grounded out to second with the bases loaded allowing Lakaiya-Braessia Kahahawai-Kehona to score from third to make it 5-1.
After allowing a run in the fourth, the Texans put up two more in the top half of the fifth as singled to center scoring Cochran to make it 6-1 before being tagged out in a run down. then singled to center scoring from third to make it 7-1.
In the top of the sixth, the Purple and White added their eighth and final run of the day as Fox singled to right scoring to make it 8-1.
The Trailblazers tried to get a rally going in the bottom of the sixth as they were down seven with six outs to work with. The home team was able to muster up just two runs to make it 8-3, the final. Kinley Pappas doubled to center scoring Ellie Evans to make it 8-2. Carley Eldredge then singled to center driving in Pappas to put them down by five, 8-3.
For the Texans, Rehmeier earned the start and went three innings as she gave up just one run (earned) on one hit while walking one. (W, 2-1) then took over going 2.2 IP. She allowed two runs (both earned) on five hits as she struck out three and walked a pair. The ace then entered the chat once again looking to add to her strike total. did just that not allowing a single run or hit while striking out a trio. She now has 111 strikeouts thus far this season in 21 appearances.
For the Trailblazers, Sauren Garton (L, 6-10) took the circle and went three innings allowing five runs (all earned) on five hits while she walked and struck out one. Lexie Wilson pitched the next three as she gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits while walking two and sitting down one. Riley Price went the final inning allowing no runs on no hits while she struck out two.
Tarleton State is set to return to action on Tuesday as they will host North Texas so complete the home and home with the Mean Green this season. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at the Tarleton State Softball Complex.
