Madison Jacob always planned on becoming a Rocket.

From Petersburg, Michigan, Jacob first enrolled at Monroe County Community College (MCCC) to earn her associate of applied science degree in business management.

"I went to MCCC rather than coming straight to UToledo because it was a great opportunity to lower the cost of college, and I wanted to start at a smaller school," she said. "The transfer process was also very smooth because I was able to meet with a transfer advisor from UToledo while I was there."

While attending MCCC, Jacob worked closely with Hala Abou-Dahech, associate director of adult and transfer admissions at UToledo.

"She was my transfer advisor who I met with multiple times while I was at MCCC," Jacob said. "Hala helped me plan my schedule to ensure I took classes that would transfer for my major."

Abou-Dahech and Jacob worked together for two years to ensure Jacob's credits would transfer to UToledo for her major in marketing.

"Madison and I met regularly to ensure her transfer from MCCC was smooth and to discuss the numerous opportunities that would be available to her as a Rocket," Abou-Dahech said. "I was so impressed with her friendliness, professionalism and attention to detail that I invited her to apply to an admission ambassador position in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Today, Madison is excelling in the classroom and helping us to recruit future transfer students."

Now a junior starting her first semester at UToledo, Jacob said she has had a great experience as a student in business.

"The thing that I enjoy most about marketing is the ability to be creative. I also find it interesting that there are so many new ways to market and interact with customers on social media," she said. "This semester, I have good teachers who are very supportive and helpful. I would recommend the business program at UToledo to anyone who is interested in the field."
