Long Beach, CA - Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach will conduct an annual summer recess for City Council meetings. City Council meetings that would have normally been held on Tuesday, June 23, July 7, and July 14 will not take place. A meeting will also not be held on June 30 because City Council meetings typically do not take place on the last Tuesday of the month. City Council meetings will return to normal scheduling on Tuesday, July 21.
It is a standard practice for jurisdictions to conduct a legislative recess over the summer months. This annual legislative summer recess is in alignment with the State of California and other major California cities that conduct a summer recess.
While City Council meetings will not take place between June 23 and July 14, councilmembers will remain engaged with their constituents and have more opportunities to participate in local community summer events and activities taking place. There are no anticipated impacts to City business due to the summer recess.
Commission and Committee meetings held in June and July will not be affected by the summer recess and the meeting agendas can be found via the City's OneMeeting portal.
Media inquiries regarding City Council, Commission or Committee meetings may be directed to Monique de la Garza, City Clerk, Office of the City Clerk, at 562.570.6101 or [email protected].
