Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella announces an update on the investigation into the officer-involved shooting that occurred early this morning on Route 16 in Dover, New Hampshire.
Just before 1:30 this morning, New Hampshire State Police troopers attempted to make a traffic stop of a car being operated by Moriah Infinjer (age 28) driving southbound on Route 16 near the town borders of Rochester and Dover, New Hampshire. Ms. Infinjer refused to bring her car to a stop and accelerated away. A police pursuit began during which speeds reached approximately 100 miles per hour. Eventually, State Police troopers deployed a spike strip and the vehicle was stopped. During the subsequent encounter with a trooper after the car was stopped, that trooper used deadly force and fired his weapon.
Ms. Infinjer was struck by this gunfire and was taken to a local hospital. There were no occupants in her vehicle. Ms. Infinjer remains hospitalized at this time with non-life-threatening injuries.
No law enforcement officers were physically injured.
Ms. Infinjer has been charged with various offenses by the New Hampshire State Police in connection with the police chase of her vehicle.
The investigation by the New Hampshire Department of Justice into the shooting of Ms. Infinjer is ongoing, and the identity of the trooper using deadly force will not be disclosed until a formal interview takes place. This is expected to occur sometime next week. Further information will be provided at that time.
