DCAA auditors assist investigation resulting in $2.8 million wire fraud scheme

By DCAA Staff Writer

Fort Belvoir, Va. -

Daniel Criswell Lee, a project manager representing Agile Infrastructure Service, LLC. (Agile), was recently sentenced to serve 33 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $2.8 million in restitution for a wire fraud scheme. DCAA investigative auditors supported the investigation by reviewing subcontracts, invoices and contract information to identify all relevant delivery orders and amounts related to the case. They also supported the case by tracing payment funds between Agile and another subcontracting company, Images, Inc., directly to Lee. Images, Inc. was owned by Lee's mother-in-law and the two worked together to move misappropriated funds into their personal accounts. Evidence obtained in the investigation revealed Lee would represent Agile as a project manager to obtain government contracts for Agile before moving the work to companies owned by other family members before moving the contract funds into personal accounts.

DCAA supported the investigation alongside the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division and Department of Defense, Office of the Inspector General, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, and Charleston Resident Agency.
