Acting Chinese Consul General in Auckland Wang Junchao Attends “A Moon Shared Across the World” Mid-Autumn Festival Event in Whangārei

On 19 September, Acting Consul General Wang Junchao attended and addressed the "A Moon Shared Across the World" Mid-Autumn cultural event in Whangārei. Director of the Friendship and Liaison Department of the Sichuan Provincial Returned Overseas Chinese Federation Yu Jiangyu,Mayor of Whangārei Ken Couper and Chair of the Board of Northland Polytechnic Graeme Kerr attended the event. Over 1,000 local residents watched the performance.

Wang said that, on the occasion of the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, the Sichuan art troupe had traveled across the ocean to Whangārei and performed on the same stage with cultural groups from the consular district. This vividly illustrated the true essence of "A Moon Shared Across the World" and highlighted the fruitful outcomes of Whangārei's sister-city cooperation with China. The Consulate-General in Auckland will continue to join hands with all sectors in the consular district to build bridges for local exchanges and people-to-people friendly cooperation.

The event was co-hosted by the China Cultural Centre in Auckland and Northland Polytechnic. The art troupe of the Sichuan Opera Theatre presented wonderful performances including face-changing,magic, dance, and tea art. Local art groups and students performed programs featuring Māori and Chinese characteristics. The atmosphere was warm and lively.
