BOZEMAN - Montana State University's School of Music will host trumpeter Wayne Bergeron for a master class and performance the weekend of Oct. 25-26. Both events are open to the public.
Bergeron's career jumpstarted when he became the lead trumpet chair for jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson's band in 1986. Since then, he has contributed to more than 500 television and film soundtracks, including those for "Frozen," "Mission: Impossible III," "Spider-Man" and "Crazy Rich Asians." He also earned recording credits alongside dozens of well-known artists in contemporary jazz and pop, such as Beyoncé, Kenny G and My Chemical Romance.
The trumpeter will present a masterclass from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 25 in Howard Hall's Reynolds Recital Hall on the MSU campus. The session is free and open to the public.
At 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26, Bergeron will join MSU's One O'clock Jazz Band, directed by assistant professor Ryan Matzinger, for a performance at the Ellen Theatre in downtown Bozeman, 17 W. Main St. Tickets cost $19.25 and are available on the theater's website.
The events are sponsored by the School of Music, Eckroth Music, Gallatin Trumpet Guild, International Trumpet Guild, Yamaha Music and Yellowstone Theological Seminary.
