ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona will host a poetry reading by James Daniels at 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, in the Fireside Lounge of the Slep Student Center. The reading is free and open to the public.
Daniels has authored more than 30 collections of poetry, seven collections of fiction, four produced screenplays, and a collection of essays.
He is a recipient of two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and two from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. His books have won multiple awards, and his work has been published in The Best American Poetry and Pushcart Prize volumes.
A native of Detroit, Daniels lives in Pittsburgh. He is the Thomas Stockham Baker University Professor Emeritus of English at Carnegie Mellon University, where he taught for 40 years. He currently teaches in the Alma College low-residency MFA program.
