On March 11, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with newly-appointed Ambassador of Myanmar to China U Zaw Win Myint.
Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong welcomed U Zaw Win Myint on his assumption of the new post in China, stating that China and Myanmar are good neighbors, good friends, good partners, and good "Paukphaw" who share joys and sorrows and stand by each other. Guided by the spirit of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, the friendly relations between the two countries have been continuously deepened. The Chinese side supports Myanmar in safeguarding national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, pursuing a development path that suits its national conditions and enjoys popular support, and advancing post-earthquake reconstruction to achieve stable development. This year is the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period. Adhering to high-quality development and high-standard opening-up, China stands ready to strengthen the synergy of development strategies with Myanmar, jointly implement the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, promote the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and push for in-depth and practical progress in building a China-Myanmar Community with a Shared Future.
U Zaw Win Myint congratulated on the successful convening of China's "two sessions," expressing confidence that China will achieve new development achievements during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. He emphasized that Myanmar and China are trustworthy friendly neighboring countries. Myanmar adheres to the one-China principle and firmly supports China in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Thanking China for its long-term valuable support for Myanmar's economic development and people's well-being improvement, Myanmar stands ready to deepen cooperation with China in various fields and promote the construction of the China-Myanmar Community with a Shared Future to achieve more new results.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
