June 10, 2026 - Singer-songwriter and award-winning actor Alicia Witt will release her new album Between Heaven and Earth on August 28 via Thirty Tigers. Recorded in January 2026 in New York City with acclaimed musician and producer Joe Henry, the album is inspired by the enduring influence of filmmaker David Lynch, Witt's longtime collaborator, mentor, and friend.
The album's first single, "Thank You," featuring John Paul White, reflects one of the central ideas behind Between Heaven and Earth: that love endures beyond loss. The song finds gratitude and acceptance in the wake of heartbreak, reflecting on how even painful endings can open the door to unexpected new beginnings.

Following Lynch's passing in 2025, Witt found herself reflecting on the profound impact he had on her life and career. Between Heaven and Earth emerged from those reflections, drawing on the lessons she says she learned through their four-decade relationship and exploring themes of unconditional love, human connection, and transcendence. Recorded live over four days in New York City, with vocals and instrumentation captured simultaneously, the album embraces performances that Witt describes as "visceral and eternal" and "could never be replicated."
In support of the album, Witt will also embark on a U.S. tour later this year. The newly announced run will feature selections from the album alongside songs from across Witt's catalog. Fans who sign up for Alicia Witt's email list by June 11 via aliciawittmusic.com will receive access to a presale code, with tickets going on sale to the general public on June 12.
Throughout Between Heaven and Earth, Witt explores themes of mystical connection, surrender, healing, nostalgia, and fate. Songs like "Love Anyway" examine love without expectation or reciprocity, while the title track embraces "childlike faith in the possibility" of connection and "insistent optimism." "Artifacts" reflects on "releasing ancient lessons that no longer serve," while "Kindred" channels "walls crumbling" and "barriers evaporating in a fabric made of light and destiny." Elsewhere, "Freeze Frame," "Test Drive," and "Blue Moon" meditate on alternate timelines, longing, and accepting the timing of life with peace and observation. Closing the album is "The Director," a song inspired by Witt's reflections on David Lynch's impact on her creative process after the director's passing.
Long celebrated for her work as both an actor and musician, Witt has released multiple acclaimed albums, performed around the world - including at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry - and opened for Ben Folds Five, Rachel Platten, Bob Schneider, Jimmy Webb, and John Fulbright. A classically trained pianist, her music has been described as "sharply personal, boldly melodic pop originals" by the Philadelphia Inquirer, while Broadway World praised her "rangy, honeyed voice, clear as crystal, pretty as a stained-glass window," calling her "a voice to treasure." Witt also spent five weeks on Billboard's Top 30 Adult Contemporary chart with the 2021 piano power ballad "Chasing Shadows," from her self-co-produced album The Conduit.
Between Heaven and Earth follows a prolific creative period for Witt. In 2024, she starred opposite Nicolas Cage in the smash hit horror film Longlegs, and released the self-produced Christmas album I Think I'm Spending Christmas With You. Best known to many for her decades-long acting career, Witt has appeared in acclaimed projects including Dune, Twin Peaks, Orange Is the New Black, Nashville, The Walking Dead, Two Weeks Notice, Urban Legend, Mr. Holland's Opus, Cybill, and The Sopranos. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001860/
