UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale honored for sustainability efforts that support whole-person care, healthier communities

HINSDALE, Ill. - UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale has been recognized by Medtronic, a global medical technology and device company, as a "Sustainability Champion" for reducing healthcare waste and protecting environmental resources, helping create healthier communities while advancing its mission of whole-person care that supports the well-being of body, mind and spirit.

The honor recognizes the hospital's performance in Medtronic's pulse oximetry sustainability program, which focuses on diverting medical supplies from landfills and promoting more sustainable healthcare practices.

In the past year, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale diverted 3,450 pounds of waste from landfills, achieved a 51.6% capture rate in the program and generated an estimated $467,211 in savings.

As part of its commitment to whole-person care, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth continues to pursue initiatives that improve environmental sustainability while supporting high-quality patient care.
