Suozzi Secures Release of Over $3.4 million for Upgrades to Glen Cove Water System

April 25, 2025

Washington, DC - Congressman Tom Suozzi (NY03) announced that on Monday, April 28, 2025, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded Glen Cove $3,452,972 for improvements to the City's Duck Pond Road Well Station. Congressman Suozzi originally secured these funds for the City in the FY23 Consolidated Appropriations Act.

Following the enactment of the Appropriations Act, the City worked with EPA on completing the necessary prerequisites so the funds could be released; however, the parties reached a standstill, delaying release of the funds. When Congressman Suozzi learned of this impasse, he reached out to the EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, requesting that EPA complete its review as expeditiously as possible and release the funds so the City could begin work on this critical infrastructure project. On April 11, 2025 Congressman Suozzi was assured that the funds would be released before the end of the month.

The funds secured by Congressman Suozzi will go toward the City's $13.8 million project to construct a Packed Tower Aeration System at its Duck Pond Road Well Station to remove Freon-22, PCE and Cis-1,2 Dichloroethene from the raw water treated at this site.

"Congressman Suozzi is always fighting for Glen Cove and we are grateful for his advocacy. This is not the first time Congressman Suozzi has helped Glen Cove secure millions of dollars in federal assistance, and we are sure it will not be the last" said Glen Cove Mayor Pam Panzenbeck.

"Providing clean and drinkable water to our residents is an essential government service. I was pleased I was able to help Glen Cove with this high priority project, thus improving water quality for local residents, businesses and visitors" said Congressman Suozzi."
