The Government has established a Tourism Leadership Group to provide sector expertise and advice on priorities for New Zealand tourism.

The Group will advise the Tourism and Hospitality Minister on opportunities and challenges facing the tourism system and recommend how to prioritise implementation of the Tourism Policy Statement.

Its focus will be on strategic, system-wide priorities that support the outcomes of the Tourism Policy Statement.

The Group includes 8 non-government members with experience across accommodation, aviation, hospitality, events, regional tourism, destination management, local government, Māori tourism and business leadership.

4 senior leaders from government agencies will also participate, from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the Department of Conservation, the Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport, and Tourism New Zealand. Our own Anna Black is the Government co-chair. Dave Beeche, CE of Real NZ[SV5.1], is the industry co-chair.
