Governor Lamont Terminates Emergency Order Prohibiting Commercial Vehicle Travel Effective at 4PM Monday

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the previously enacted emergency order prohibiting commercial vehicle travelin Connecticut due to the major winter storm impacting the state has been terminated effective at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Even though this emergency order has been lifted, the governor is urging all motorists to do their best to avoid driving for the remainder of the day on Monday and use absolute caution if they must travel as plow crews continue their work to clear the roads. While conditions on interstate highways are improving, local and secondary roads will take longer to recover.

The neighboring states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island continue to have certain travel restrictions in their respective states, and anyone considering traveling into those states are strongly advised to check the status of their ongoing emergency orders before crossing state lines.

"While the worst part of the storm has passed, lingering snowfall remains and it is going to take some time for plow crews to fully clear the roads, which is why I continue to urge everyone to stay off the roads for the remainder of Monday unless absolutely necessary," Governor Lamont said. "If you must travel, leave early, take it slow, and keep a good distance from the plows."
