Chairwoman McClain, Chairman Crawford, and House GOP Veterans Stand with Troops, Call on Democrats to Fully Fund Homeland Security

WASHINGTON
- House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford, joined by veteran members of the House GOP, held a press conference yesterday honoring America's service members and highlighting the urgent need for Congress to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security.

House GOP veterans included Representatives Rick Crawford, Gabe Evans, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Zach Nunn, Nick LaLota, Jen Kiggans, Scott Fitzgerald, Scott Franklin, William Timmons, and Mike Bost.

Chairwoman McClain: "Nearly every Democrat voted against fully funding America's homeland security. Under the Biden administration, over 380 individuals on the terrorist watch list crossed our southern border illegally, and around 100 were released into the United States. And yet, Democrats are still refusing to fully fund the men and women who protect our homeland - our Coast Guard, TSA agents, and every professional keeping terrorists out of our country. This is not just irresponsible; it is shameful." Watch her full remarks here.

Chairman Crawford: "Every day DHS remains underfunded, Democrats send a message that they do not care about the safety or security of the American people." Watch his full remarks here.

Rep. Gabe Evans (CO-08): "To our deployed servicemen and women, America stands with you. You are the guardians of freedom. To Democrats blocking DHS funding: stop playing politics. The men and women protecting our homeland should never have their pay used as political leverage." Watch his remarks here.

Rep. Jen Kiggans (VA-02): "Our service members are overseas defending our nation - they shouldn't have to worry about the safety of their families at home. Stop the games and unify to support our military and their families." Watch her full remarks here.
Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01):"Democrats' partisan obsession is putting political theater ahead of national security. DHS must be fully funded and operational. It's time to put the safety of the American people first." Watch his full remarks here.

Rep. Zach Nunn (IA-03): "The brave actions of our men and women in uniform reflect the commitment of young Americans nationwide to protect all of us." Watch his full remarks here.

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01): "The freedoms we cherish - speech, press, and the pursuit of the American Dream - are secured by the courage and sacrifice of the men and women in uniform. As a 24-year Army veteran, the wife of a 30-year Army veteran, and the daughter of a veteran, I know that truth all too well." Watch her full remarks here.
