The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration's vision is for Ireland to be safe, fair and inclusive. We have many different responsibilities, including:
See the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration website for more information.
The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration is leading on the development of a new National Cyber Security Strategy. You can read the previous strategy and its end-of-strategy report on the gov.ie website.
This process has been informed by the Programme for Government, EU cyber security legislation, the 2025 National Cyber Risk Assessment and key Government priorities. The Strategy will set out our priorities on cyber security.
Relevant Government Departments formed an Inter-Departmental Committee earlier this year to develop a draft Strategy organised around three pillars:
The draft Strategy identifies proposals to address systemic cyber security risks in the State while encouraging development and innovation in the digital sector so that we can all safely benefit from technological progress.
Consultation with universities, industry stakeholders and public sector bodies has taken place throughout the development of this strategy, informing its approach to key strategic issues.
A public consultation is now taking place in order to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to submit their views on the draft National Cyber Security Strategy.
The public consultation will run for six weeks until 21 August 2026 at 12pm, and this survey is open to anyone living in Ireland.
By completing this survey, you can share your views on the ideas put forward in the draft Strategy to strengthen national cyber resilience.
Cyber security is a concern for all people living in Ireland, and impacts how we live, work, connect with others, and interact with the world. For this reason, we would like to hear from as many people as possible.
We will provide a summary report outlining the responses received and issues raised to the Inter-Departmental Committee on the National Cyber Security Strategy, and we may also publish that report. No personal information will be published.
As part of the consultation process, survey answers may be subject to requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2014. This means we must release this information if asked by an individual or organisation. We ask that you do not include any personal information in your answers to this survey, however, if there is any personal information in the answers, we will remove it before we give out the information.
