President Gitanas Nausėda welcomes new investment in the establishment of facilities for the production and assembly of defense ammunition components in Lithuania. An investment agreement for this major project was signed on Friday by the Lithuanian Ministry of the Economy and Innovation and DEMZ, a Ukrainian defense sector company.
"By actively supporting Ukraine, Lithuania is strengthening Ukraine's defense-and, in turn, the defense of our own country and the entire eastern flank. Today, we see that our support for Ukraine is also generating tangible economic dividends," said the President.
The Lithuanian leader emphasized that the agreements signed today at the Office of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania will contribute to long-term economic and competence development in Alytus and Prienai District and create new jobs.
In 2024, the Presidents of Lithuania and Ukraine signed a comprehensive ten-year agreement on security cooperation. In early 2026, they signed an agreement on the development of joint defense projects in Lithuania.
Under the newly signed agreements, a regional production and innovation center of DEMZ, a Ukrainian defense sector company, will be established in Lithuania. The center will develop and test new products that meet NATO standards.
