Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia to the «Bovo GAS» Biogas Production Plant

On September 6, within the framework of his visit to Riga, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan visited the Bovo GAS biogas production plant.

Minister Mirzoyan toured the plant's production facilities and was briefed on the biogas production process and the technologies employed.

Mkhitar Mkhitaryan, founder and owner of the company and Honorary Consul of Armenia in Latvia, presented the company's activities and the overall production chain to Minister Mirzoyan, including its contribution to the development of the energy system in the Baltic States, as well as its completed and ongoing projects. It was highlighted that Bovo GAS, operational since March 2024, is a unique facility in Latvia producing high-quality biomethane by purifying biogas and injecting the resulting biomethane directly into Latvia's natural gas grid.

It was noted that the project represents one of the best examples of converting agricultural waste into renewable energy, with its production chain encompassing both biogas and other products ranging from egg to high-quality fertilizers.

During the tour, views were exchanged on opportunities for sharing expertise and the prospects for biogas production in Armenia. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that strengthening energy resilience and diversifying energy sources are among the priorities of the Government of Armenia.
