Topeka, Kan. - The Washburn University Gregory D. and Ronda K. Brenneman School of Business inducted its newest class of students into Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma during an annual ceremony May 7 at the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center on the Washburn campus.
Brian Lang, a 1999 Washburn accounting graduate, was selected as this year's alumni honorary member. Lang is CEO of SSC CPAs + Advisors, headquartered in Topeka.
"Induction into Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma reflects the dedication, academic excellence and leadership these 38 students have demonstrated at Washburn," said Dr. David Sollars, dean and professor of economics, Washburn University Brenneman School of Business. "These organizations recognize students who have committed themselves to high standards in business and financial information education, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements as they prepare to make meaningful contributions in their professions and communities."

Founded in 1919, Beta Alpha Psi is an international honor organization for financial information students and professionals with more than 300 chapters and 380,000 members worldwide. As an accredited member of AACSB International, Washburn established its Mu Omicron chapter in 2010. Since the chapter's inception, 300 students have been inducted into Beta Alpha Psi.
Founded in 1913, Beta Gamma Sigma is an invitation-only international business honor society with more than 600 chapters in more than 190 countries and more than 980,000 lifetime members. The organization recognizes top business students at institutions accredited by AACSB International, including the top 10% of undergraduate students and top 20% of graduate students. Since Washburn established its chapter in 2008, 662 students have been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.
