Washington, D.C. - Paladin Capital Group, the multi-stage investor in cyber, AI and advanced technology, is pleased to announce that Charlie Wilson will join the firm as first-ever Director of AI and Data Analytics. In this newly created role, Wilson will lead the development of tools and applications using AI and data analytics to support investment research, portfolio monitoring, and internal operations across the firm.
Wilson specializes in harnessing advanced analytics and applied AI as tools for research, evaluation, and decision support. In Wilson's recent work, he has focused on applied evaluation of large language models for finance sector workflows and has designed sector-specific rubrics to characterize model failure modes. He has also assisted in early testing of agentic workflows.
"As we at Paladin, and the cybersecurity ecosystem at-large, continue to recognize the enormous power and impact of AI tools, we are pleased to welcome Charlie as Paladin's inaugural Director of AI and Data Analytics," said Michael Steed, Founder and Managing Partner of Paladin Capital Group. "Charlie is a skilled professional with decades of experience in global investments, AI analytics, and portfolio management. With his guidance and broader utilization of AI tools, Paladin will continue to invest in AI-native companies that strengthen our nation's critical infrastructure and provide strong returns for our investors."
Previously, Wilson served as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Thornburg Investment Management, where he led investment strategies across emerging markets and the firm's international equity portfolios.
Earlier in his tenure at Thornburg, Wilson served as the firm's first Director of Research, building the research platform and governance standards that continue to support its equity research team. Prior to this, Wilson was a Partner and Senior Analyst at Marsico Capital Management, a public equity manager covering multiple sectors across global markets.
"I am proud to join the Paladin team as the firm continues to build out its AI-enabled tools," said Charlie Wilson. "The modern era demands adaptability as we harness the many opportunities posed by generative AI. I look forward to sharing my expertise with the entire Paladin team."
Wilson was a George A. Thompson Postdoctoral Research Scholar in geophysics at Stanford and a research scientist at Columbia's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. He holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of Colorado Boulder and a B.S. in Geology from the University of Arizona.
