DGA Statement on the Connecticut Republican Party's Endorsement for Governor

DGA spokesperson Kevin Donohoe released the following statement on Ryan Fazio securing the Connecticut Republican Party's endorsement for Governor:

"Ryan Fazio has a radioactive record of gutting public education, raising health care costs, defending the Trump administration's abuses, opposing common-sense gun safety reform, and rejecting tax cuts for parents. As Governor, Fazio would bring Trump's extreme, dangerous, and cost-raising agenda to Connecticut. Instead of doing what is best for Connecticut, Fazio has spent his career doing the bidding of special interests, the gun lobby, and MAGA extremists - and that's why he will lose this November."

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RYAN FAZIO:

Ryan Fazio has a long record of toxic votes from his time in the legislature that are kryptonite in a general election. He recently voted against funding public education and bringing down property taxes for Connecticut families. He opposed Governor Ned Lamont's funding to keep ACA premiums low for Connecticut families after Donald Trump's budget law dramatically raised them. Fazio's extremism goes beyond the budget. This legislative session, he repeatedly sided with the gun lobby and vocally opposed efforts to push back on the Trump administration's attacks on Connecticut's immigrant communities. Fazio has said he "would love the President's endorsement" and has said "he has a great deal of respect" for Donald Trump's "public service". Last year, Fazio's allies attacked Erin Stewart for not being sufficiently supportive of Trump.
