Minister Abrovsky: Pilot cooperatives can demonstrate the benefits of uniting agricultural producers

The establishment of pilot cooperatives will demonstrate in practice the benefits of uniting agricultural producers and will encourage them to seek opportunities for collaboration. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Plamen Abrovsky, during a meeting with the General Manager of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GBCIC), Sonja Miklai, and representatives of the Chamber. During the discussion, the possibilities for exchanging experience and best practices between Bulgaria and Germany in the field of agriculture were explored, including the development of the cooperative model.

Minister Abrovsky emphasized that cooperation is important, but it must have a clear goal and bring concrete benefits to farmers. "The uniting of producers should not be an end in itself, but a tool for achieving better economic results, reducing risks, and increasing their competitiveness," he firmly stated. According to him, the better organization of production, supply, and product marketing is among the key challenges facing Bulgarian agriculture.

For her part, Sonja Miklai highlighted the need to adapt the sector to new economic and technological conditions. She pointed out that cooperation that can enable farmers to pool resources and share the costs of utilizing modern technologies.

Minister Abrovsky and the participants in the meeting agreed that the exchange of knowledge, experience, and practical solutions between Bulgaria and Germany could create new partnership opportunities and contribute to a more competitive and sustainable Bulgarian agriculture.
