Despite losing in the final, the Kepler volleyball team managed to advance to the next level.
Having come together only at the start of the 2023 Summer Semester, the men's volleyball team missed advancing to the 2nd national league in its very first season only by a hair. But with a clean slate this season, coach Patrick Nsoesie Enoh and his team continued to practice tirelessly and, following a fantastic first round of matches with 12 wins out of 14 games, were crowned league leaders in the 3rd Landesliga Ost, qualifying the Kepler Volleys, opens an external URL in a new window for the FinaFour tournament at the beginning of April at the Peuerbachschule in Linz. The two best teams would have the opportunity to advance to the next league.
After defeating the McDonalds Supervolley Wels 1 3:1 during a decisive semi-final match, the Linz team advanced to the 2nd national league. In the final match against Union Mühlbach, the team was on a par throughout the match, but ultimately lost 3-0.
USI manager Martin Weiß was delighted with the team's performance: "All of us at the USI would like to congratulate the men's team on their outstanding performance! They worked hard to reach their goals. We couldn't be happier for the men's team, and we are also very pleased to have our own women's team in the national league starting this the fall. It's a very exciting step forward as well as great advertising for USI sports at the JKU, featuring some international players, too!"
