Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis will be in Washington this week to attend the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.
As President of the Eurogroup, Minister Pierrakakis will participate in the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting and in a range of IMF meetings.
The Eurogroup President will also engage in a series of bilateral meetings and will participate in public and media engagements to highlight the European economic and financial policy agenda.
The crisis in the Middle East has taken its toll on the economy, yet the euro area has proven to be markedly resilient. A clear path to growth and structural reforms is the main remedy to better withstand and overcome future shocks.
The IMF and World Bank Group play a vital role in addressing the challenges facing the world economy. Multilateral institutions are crucial in steering us through turbulent times.
I look forward to engaging with international partners during the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings. I will use this opportunity to underline the Eurogroup's commitment to creating the conditions for competitive financial markets that can transform EU savings into productive investments.
Kyriakos Pierrakakis, President of the Eurogroup
The Spring Meetings provide an opportunity for Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from around the world to meet with leading figures from the IMF and World Bank and discuss global economic developments, including the IMF's assessment of the global economic outlook.
